Popular attractions in the area

Burg Mauterndorf [Mauterndorf Castle] (17 km)

A fascinating journey into the Middle Ages. The sundial above the entrance to Burg Mauterndorf has been welcoming traders, scoundrels, and travelers on their way over the Alps for hundreds of years. Where once the motto was “Purse strings open and pay the toll”, today, visitors can immerse themselves in the Middle Ages. Life-size figures, the imposing tower, and playfully designed information stations make the lovingly restored castle an exciting “hands-on museum”. The castle is open daily.

Therme Amadé Spa (27 km)

Our hotel guests receive 10% off the admission price! Look forward to an indulgent bathing experience with a wonderful panoramic view of the picturesque natural landscape – because a visit to the Therme Amadé Spa in Altenmarkt is more than just a vacation. You can now conveniently pick up the tickets for the spa at the reception which saves you any long waiting times at the ticket office. Then all you have to do is redeem them at the entrance of the spa.

Salzwelten Hallein (salt mine) (80 km away)

In the oldest visitor mine in the world, visitors both big and small aged 4 and up can go treasure hunting and follow the mysterious, ancient tunnels the miners used long ago for kilometers, deep into the mystical mountain. Here, you will also find the reconstructed Celtic village, which offers a unique walk through life about 2,500 years ago.

Giant ice world (Eisriesenwelt) in Werfen (50 km)

The largest ice cave in the world – don’t let this unique natural spectacle of rock and ice pass you by! The approximately 40 km long cave passages are frozen with thick ice, providing stunning scenes inside the largest cave system in the world. The giant ice world (Eisriesenwelt) opens annually from May to October.

Burg Hohenwerfen Fortress (50 km)

A breathtaking experience awaits visitors at the towering Hohenwerfen Fortress, which is more than 900 years old. This tall, jutting rock, high above the Salzachtal valley floor, offers a breezy view of the surrounding mountains. The feathered hunters of the province’s falconry center, the dashing weaponry, the museums, and the dark corners all invite visitors to storm the thick walls of the castle and explore within.

Liechtensteinklamm (58 km)

is one of the longest and deepest gorges in the Alps. Hear the mighty roar of the waterfall, see the deep green moss-covered rocks, and feel the myth-shrouded atmosphere. The sunshine, together with the fine water spray, can also sometimes make a rainbow. A great hike over bridges and walkways – also suitable for a family hike (not stroller friendly)!
